Track Timing is simply described as “chaotic” at best. At a local level, meets are generally staffed by volunteers composed of parents, students, school teachers and coaches that may or may not have the experience to conduct a rather organized and manageable meet. More often, complaints exist due to excessively long meets that could last 5-6 hours not including the prep and tear down that usually could add a couple of hours to a rather long day.
The de facto standards for track timing is Finish Lynx hardware and software that allows high speed digital image capture of athletes as they cross the finish line. Although the setup and operation is very well documented, it’s quite intimidating especially if you are not computer or photography savvy. There are still older equipment out there that requires manual configuration that’s why it’s somewhat of a daunting task to setup or operate.
We are experienced in setup and operation of Finish Lynx. We also have operational experience for Meet Pro, an industry robust meet management software to populate athlete databases, compute team scoring and for result posting. Together, our in depth knowledge of both Finish Lynx and Meet Pro certainly alleviates much of the worries that come with hosting track & field meets.
